summerborn on "Unable to insert a DONATE button on my website"

I have created a Paypal Donate button but have been unable to add it as a widget on my website.
I have found that you cannot simply insert the code into a post or page, as it just disappears upon saving, but much of the advice online says to use a widget and I can't get this to work either.
Any advice please?
